In 2004 the literary prize went to Moroccan writer Tahar Ben Jelloun, who is noted for his commitment to intercultural dialogue. Donnafugata for presentation of the 2004 nocturnal harvest was Claudia Cardinale, the unforgettable Angelica in the film Luchino Visconti made from the novel, presented the award and participated as a guest in the 2004 nocturnal harvest at Donnafugata. For the first time the actress visited some of the places described in Il Gattopardo, such as the Donnafugata marshes and the authors family home at Santa Margherita Belice. With this Journey to Donnafugata, Claudia Cardinale returned to a land whose charm and ardor she depicted in the film, beginning a career that marked the history of Italian cinema worldwide. |
